The Gospel of Thomas with Doug and Noa: Logion 3

This Logion deals with the Kingdom of God.  If interested, I wrote an article on the Kingdom of God from a Law of One perspective a few years ago: The Kingdom of God: Among Us, Inside Us, Here Now, and Coming Soon!

— Doug

Logion 3 –  Jesus says:

(1) “If those who lead you say to you: ‘Look, the kingdom is in the sky!’ then the birds of the sky will precede you.

(2) If they say to you: ‘It is in the sea,’ then the fishes will precede you.

(3) Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and outside of you.”

(4) “When you come to know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will realize that you are the children of the living Father:

(5) But if you do not come to know yourselves, then you exist in poverty and you are poverty.”

Noa – words that stick with me after a reading:

  • Kingdom, = oneness, all things, life, pure loving energy
  • Know yourselves, know your anchored and floating self.  Realize the unity of all things and that you are a part of that, fully.  Three centered awareness in action (this is what Cynthia is teaching us in Wisdom school).  Possibly ones seen with crowns really, really got this?
  • Poverty, Not $ but spirit.  Not living as you were intended to, as one with all, thus not adding to the unity.

Doug: This is a very powerful Logion.   I love what you wrote. Here are some of my thoughts:

(1) “If those who lead you say to you: ‘Look, the kingdom is in the sky!’ then the birds of the sky will precede you.

Doug→ teachers who do not help people look within themselves will try to point and show where the kingdom of God is.  These will be teachers who do not know very much, although I don’t doubt their heart. Yet, they will say that the Kingdom of God is in the sky (for example) and when you look to go there, you will find that the sky is already crowded with beings whose nature it is to be in the sky… This Kingdom of God will not be for you.

(2) If they say to you: ‘It is in the sea,’ then the fishes will precede you.

Doug→ they will say that the Kingdom of God is in the sea (for example) and when you look to go there, you will find that the sea is already crowded with beings whose nature is to be in the sea…This Kingdom of God will not be for you. For looking for the Kingdom of God is not located in an object or idea that is outside of a person.  Yet, at the beginning stages of spirituality, necessary dualism would teach thusly.

(3) Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and outside of you.”

Doug→ However, the kingdom of God is wholeness of oneness, of the Infinite Creator, that is inside of me (and you).  As above, so below, as within, so without. The micro and the macro are the same.

(4) “When you come to know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will realize that you are the children of the living Father:

Doug→ The path towards our Anchored Self is the same path towards God.  They are the same journey. Then, the process or journey of self knowledge gives me the ability to learn how to be vulnerable with other people because I will not fear my own shadow.  The more I share myself with others, the more I am known by others. When I know myself and know others and they know me, then I will inherently see how we are all one and we participate within the One (living “Father”). In LOO terms, we are co-Creators, sub-sub logoi.

(5) But if you do not come to know yourselves, then you exist in poverty and you are poverty.”

Doug→ the poverty of shallow living, of not seeking, is very great, indeed.  There will be the constant restlessness and attempt to assuage the nagging emptiness.  That is indeed the poorest because nothing will fill this void and they are destined to live lives of addiction to something.  To be addicted is to be enslaved. You don’t get much poorer and impoverished than being a slave–especially, most especially when you don’t even know that you are enslaved! Imagine that poverty!

Anchored Self, v3
The path to God and the path to your Anchored Self is the same path!

  2. Back in the day, I had a verse in one of my rap songs that said, “If you want to feel your jeans with greens, first seek the Dome of the King” the dome meaning the mind or nature.
I love how you brought out the kingdom of God for air dwellers or water dwellers is different for how the “dome of the King” functions for earth dwellers. It means that there is invitation from the infinite one for me in my natural setting to reflect yeah. This was so good thanks Doug! Thanks Noa!
