 Jesus saw some infants who were being suckled. He said to his disciples: These infants being suckled are like those who enter the kingdom. They said to him: If we then become children, shall we enter the kingdom? Jesus said to them: When you make the two one, and when you make the inside as the outside, and the outside as the inside, and the upper as the lower, and when you make the male and the female into a single one, so that the male is not male and the female not female, and when you make eyes in place of an eye, and a hand in place of a hand, and a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then shall you enter [the kingdom].

Noa – the first half of this is clear and referenced in many of the logion before. Unity, oneness.  But the last part I do not really get: “and when you make eyes in place of an eye, and a hand in place of a hand, and a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then shall you enter [the kingdom].”

Doug: I think that you’re right! The first part is a reference to being in union with God and drawing strength and nourishment directly. The second half is also a description of what it means to live in unitive consciousness.  

The “born again,” person is one who has “died with Christ,” so that they are “alive in Christ.”  This means that we die to Floating Self needs through surrendering into the big-ness of God. We rise in our Anchored Self and from such holistic energy, we use our Floating Selves to do good in the world. The “making of eyes, hands, feet, and images,” seems to me to refer to the fact that when we allow the giving up of our Floating Self’s dominance in our lives through living a life of surrender, then all things are made new.  Our eyes, hands, feet, and indeed everything about us (our projected “image”) are repurposed to be used for Anchored Self living rather than Floating Self’s seeking of power, prestige, and possessions.

We learn that it is Christ (Logos!) living within us who engages the world through us. We become willing partners is the flow of the Trinity as It eternally paints and molds love expressed in each moment. That’s Anchored Self living, and that’s making our bodies, through our intention to be used by the divine one, new and elevated.
