The Original Thought as the Creator’s Significant Self:

The Original Thought as the Creator’s Significant Self:

A Fractal Reading of Ra on Octave Transition and the Birth of a New Primal Logos

by Doug Scott, LCSW

The Intuition

After more than a decade of reading and rereading the Ra Contact — through study, meditation, and the regular work of writing my blog posts — I find that intuitions arise from within my subconscious that inspire me to consciously work with hidden themes which are not immediately present in Ra’s words. The Ra Material is not a closed corpus to be memorized; it is a living text that keeps offering more once an entity has spent enough time inside it. What follows is one of those intuitions surfacing — a fractal correspondence between the personal significant self and the Original Thought that Ra never states in so many words, yet which Ra’s own passages, set beside each other, more than support. Forgive the “inside baseball” nature of this article.  For those Ra Contact students who are nerds like me, maybe you will like it.

The Ra Material says two things that, when set beside each other, reveal a single fractal architecture operating at every scale of cosmic life. The personal significant self carries the harvest of all previous incarnations of an entity. The Original Thought carries the harvest of all previous experience of the Creator by the Creator. The structural parallel is exact — and Ra’s own language at 52.12 confirms that what is born at octave transition is not a refurbished version of the prior Logos but a new Primal Logos altogether, freshly articulated, carrying the cumulative harvest as its inaugural nature.

This document gathers the Ra passages that ground the parallel, draws the fractal explicitly through a comparison chart, and emphasizes that octave transition is the birth of a new Primal Logos — the highest-scale incarnation of the Creator’s self-knowing arc.

The Personal Significant Self

Ra defines the significant self most clearly in 92.18, in the context of the newborn infant whose Matrix of Mind is unfed by experience but whose significant self is already loaded. The infant, Ra says, has “highly developed” portions which can be best studied through the Significators of Mind and Body — the spirit complex being not yet reliably developed in each entity. The infant’s significant self is described as “the harvest of biases of all previous incarnational experiences,” offering the infant biases with which to meet new catalyst.

This is the carried inheritance — what the entity has come to be across the entire arc of its incarnations. Not the most recent lifetime alone, but the cumulative bias-pattern of every prior incarnation the entity has lived. The Matrix reaches for novel experience through free will (just as intelligent energy in the kinetic phase, through free will, creates the Logos), and the results of these experiments are recorded back into the Matrix. The significant self, meanwhile, holds the entity’s full biographical-spiritual inheritance and shapes how that novelty will be received.

Then Ra makes the equation explicit at 103.11. The Significator IS the significant self for the present incarnation. The archetypal Significators of Mind, Body, and Spirit (Cards 5, 12, and 19) are not symbols of some other thing — they are the significant self functioning archetypally, the integrative center that holds the harvest and offers it forward into each new articulation. The Significator is the significant self, to a great extent influenced by the lowering of the veil but not entirely; the Great Way then draws the environment of that Significator into the limitless current of time/space.

The Original Thought as Cosmic Significant Self

Ra’s statements about the Original Thought, gathered together, describe the same harvest-vessel function at the cosmic scale. In 82.10, Ra says directly: “The One Original Thought is the harvest of all previous, if you would use this term, experience of the Creator by the Creator.” Harvest. The Original Thought is not a static seed-thought from a primordial moment of beginning. It is itself cumulative — what the Creator has come to know across all prior self-experience, refined through generation after generation of self-articulation.

In 78.22, Ra adds the equation: “All that is learned from experience in an octave is the harvest of that Logos and is further the nature of that Logos.” Harvest and nature are the same thing seen from two angles. What a Logos has learned is what that Logos now is. The original Logos’s experience was, viewed in space/time, small. Its experience now is greater. The nature of creation as we encounter it is the cumulative product of all that has been learned — and the process by which that nature was achieved does not vanish; it is ratified by the product.

In 82.9, Ra describes a gradient of participation. Stars closer to “the beginning of the manifestation of the Logos” partake more purely in the one original thought. The closer to the inaugural articulation, the more direct the expression. As articulation cascades through sub-Logoi (galactic), sub-sub-Logoi (solar), and finally into incarnate beings, each level partakes less purely — meaning each level adds its own variation, its own knowing, its own contribution to what the next octave’s harvest will become. The gradient is the Creator generating the means by which novelty enters the harvest.

In 28.16, Ra describes octaves as cyclical, ending and beginning again, “clad in mystery.” In 40.1, Ra describes the transition itself as timeless — spiritual mass concentrating back into the central sun, the absorption continuing until “all the infinity of creations have attained sufficient spiritual mass in order that all form once again the great central sun, if you would so imagine it, of the intelligent infinity awaiting potentiation by free will.” The transition cannot be measured by time. The carrier (Original Thought) bridges the timeless gap.

The Keystone: 52.12 and the Birth of a New Primal Logos

The keystone passage is 52.12, where Ra describes the octave’s omega-and-alpha character with unusual directness. The completed octave’s spiritual mass becomes “one central sun or Creator once again. Then is born a new universe, a new infinity, a new Logos which incorporates all that the Creator has experienced of Itself.”

Three details in this passage deserve attention. First, the new Logos is born — not constructed, not assembled, not initiated. Birth language. The same language that fits the infant of 92.18, who arrives carrying the significant self already loaded with all prior incarnational biases. As above, so below, even at the level of how Ra speaks about the transition. The new Logos comes into being already pregnant with everything the Creator has come to know.

Second, what is born is described in universal-scale terms — “a new universe, a new infinity, a new Logos.” This is not a sub-Logos or sub-sub-Logos. Sub-Logoi articulate within an already-established universal framework; they do not generate new universes. Only the Universal/Primal Logos articulates an entire octaved cosmos. The harvest of an entire completed octave can only be incorporated by something scaled to that harvest — a new Primal Logos, the Creator’s first self-articulation in a new infinity.

Third, the new Primal Logos “incorporates all that the Creator has experienced of Itself.” This is the harvest-transfer mechanism stated as plainly as Ra ever states anything. The Original Thought, refined to a new complexity by the prior octave’s full articulation, is the foundational nature of the new Primal Logos at its inception. The new Primal Logos’s “birth condition” is the cumulative wisdom of every prior octave that has ever been (28.16’s mystery-clad infinite progression, with the Original Thought as carrier across each transition).

The Creator, then, is itself an entity with an arc — and the “incarnations” at the Creator’s scale are entire universal octaves. Each Primal Logos lives one full universe-cycle. Each one harvests what that universe-cycle taught. Each one passes that harvest forward through the timeless transition into the next Primal Logos. The Original Thought is what all prior Primal Logoi have collectively learned, refined to ever-greater complexity — and what the current Primal Logos has further added to through this octave’s articulation.

And 52.12 adds something striking: there are wanderers across octave boundaries. “In this new octave there are also those who wander. We know very little across the boundary of octave except that these beings come to aid our octave in its Logos completion.” Inter-octave wanderers descend from the next octave up to assist the current octave’s completion — the wanderer-pattern, which intra-octavely brings sixth-density wanderers to third-density Earth, scales up to the boundary between universal incarnations themselves. Service-from-above operates at every scale, including across the timeless transition.

The Fractal: Personal Significant Self and Original Thought Compared

The chart below sets the two scales side by side. Read column-by-column to see the parallel function; read row-by-row to see how Ra grounds each correspondence in specific passages.

Personal Significant SelfOriginal Thought (Creator’s Significant Self)
Harvest of biases of all previous incarnational experiences (92.18).Harvest of all previous experience of the Creator by the Creator (82.10).
Cumulative across the entire incarnational arc of the entity, not just the most recent lifetime.Cumulative across the entire infinite progression of octaves, not just the immediately prior octave (28.16).
“The Significator is the significant self” (103.11). The integrative archetypal center IS the harvest-vessel.“All that is learned from experience in an octave is the harvest of that Logos and is further the nature of that Logos” (78.22). Harvest IS nature.
The infant arrives with the significant self already loaded; the Matrix of Mind is unfed but the significant self biases what novelty will mean (92.18).The new Primal Logos is born already “incorporating all that the Creator has experienced of Itself” — the Original Thought is the inaugural nature (52.12).
Carries across the bardo / between-life threshold from one incarnation into the next.Carries across the timeless transition from one octave into the next (40.1, 28.16).
Biases the starting conditions of each new incarnation; meets new catalyst with already-developed orientation.Biases the starting conditions of each new octave; the new Primal Logos articulates from the inheritance forward.
Successive incarnations express the significant self with varying directness; some lifetimes recover deeper bias-patterns, others elaborate new variations.Stars closer to the beginning of the Primal Logos’s manifestation partake more purely in the Original Thought; later articulations partake less purely, adding novelty (82.9–82.10).
Higher-density wanderers descend into third-density incarnations to aid planetary harvest, carrying their significant-self harvest into a less-developed condition.Inter-octave wanderers descend from the next octave up to aid this octave’s Logos completion — the same service-from-above pattern, scaled to the boundary between universes (52.12).
The entity’s accumulated self-knowing across its arc.The Creator’s accumulated self-knowing across the infinite progression of universal-scale arcs — the Creator’s own significant self.

What This Tells Us

The fractal completes itself at the top. The Creator is doing what we are doing — at a scale we can barely glimpse. The personal pattern is not just analogous to the cosmic pattern. It is the same pattern, because we are the Creator knowing Itself through this particular articulation. Our significant self is a localized expression of how the Creator’s Significant Self operates.

The current Primal Logos is not the first. It is the latest in an arc whose beginning is clad in mystery (28.16) — an infinite progression of universes, each one a complete incarnation of the Creator’s self-knowing, each one harvested at omega and incorporated as inaugural nature into the next. We are participating in the present Primal Logos’s lifetime. What this octave learns — what every entity within it learns, across every density and every articulation — contributes to the harvest that will become the next Primal Logos’s foundational nature.

Teleopotentiation operates here at the highest possible level. The completed octave’s harvest is the Affirming Force (template, bias, nature) for the next octave’s articulation. The timeless transition is the Reconciling moment between them. The new Primal Logos is genuine New Higher Arising at universal scale. And then within that new Primal Logos’s articulation, the same pattern recurses through every sub-Logos, every sub-sub-Logos, every Significant Self of every entity at every density — each level performing the harvest-and-rebirth dynamic in its own scale’s idiom.

As above, so below. As within, so without. The Creator’s incarnational arc is not a metaphor borrowed from the human pattern; the human pattern is the Creator’s incarnational arc expressing itself at the scale where we can recognize it. When the next Primal Logos is born — incorporating all that the Creator has experienced of Itself, including all that has been learned through this octave’s articulation — what will be carried forward is, in part, what we have come to know. The Original Thought’s next refinement passes through us.
